ACROSPORT

    WHAT IS ACROSPORT?

Acrosport is a sport that combines acrobatics and choreography. This sport is included in the International Federation of Acrobatic Sports and is part of the International Gymnastics Federation since 1999.

In acrosport there are three fundamental elements:

a) Formation of corporal figures or pyramids.

b) Acrobatics and elements of force, flexibility and balance as transitions between the figures.

c) Elements of dance, jumps and gymnastic pirouettes.

    WHERE IS IT PRACTISED?

In a 12 × 12 meter tapestry (similar to rhythmic or artistic gymnastics).

    CHARACTERISTICS:

The exercise must contain acrobatic and gymnastic elements of flexibility, balance, jumps and turns, as well as movements in cooperation between the members of the group performing figures and body pyramids. At all times there must be harmony and coordination in the actions carried out by the group. The difficulty, the technique and the artistic dimension of the composition are valued.

   DURATION OF THE EXERCISE:

It varies according to the category, although we can take as a reference 2'30 min with a margin of 5 seconds.

   CATEGORIES:

- Couples: mixed, female and male.

- Female threesomes.

- Male quartets.

- Mixed groups (3-6 components).

   DIFFERENT ROLES:

Roles are the functions that characterize each member of the group.

  a) Portor: they are the bases of the pyramids and must support the agile, for this they must maintain the greatest possible stability. Depending on the figure to be executed, you can perform the following actions:

- Base positions: acting as a static support surface to which the agile will climb.
- Snatch: action in which the porter lifts the agile in an explosive movement.

  b) Agile: performs agility work by climbing over the port to adopt a stable and aesthetic posture. Depending on the figure to be executed, you can perform the following actions:

- Balance positions: adoption of a static posture on the goal.
- Ascents: progressive movement in which the agile varies from a lower position to another higher on the portor.

c) Assistant: acts quickly when a porter or agile has difficulty maintaining the pyramid / figure. It can also support the portor to help you maintain your posture. Also, it can support the agile as it climbs over the port, to help him adopt his position or maintain it. Pick up the agile in case of fall.

d) Observer: observe the work of others and provide advice to improve the figure / pyramid.

   BASIC RULES TO AVOID ACCIDENTS:

- It is essential that the communication between the porter and the agile is continuous.

- At the moment in which the player notices any discomfort, he must tell the agile to correct that position.

- All movements of raising and lowering the port must be carried out smoothly and at very controlled speeds.

HUMAN DISEASES AND HEALTH

This topic is going to talk about the different human diseases, their causes, symptons and treatment. I'll also talk of sport injuries, different human organs and interesting facts of the human body that you probably don't know.

I hope this topic helps you to learn about your own body and that you get surprised of facts and things that you didn't know before.

I'm going to talk about emergency methods for saving a human life that maybe can help you in a dangerous situation of your life. nobody knows! Hope you enjoy!! :D

TYPES OF BODY INJURES

This entry will talk about different kinds of injuries that a sporter can get.

+ If you get hurt during the practice of sports, this injuries are called "accidental" or acute:

         -Auto injury or self trauma.

-By contact: with another athlete, with instruments or sports equipment.

+ Sports injuries, the "typical" or chronic ones:
-There are injuries that affect the locomotor apparatus and they usually are repetitive and cumulative.

         - Muscular injuries: they are caused by external factors (bruises and wounds) and those produced by internal factors (distensions, tears, pulls or muscle breaks).

         - Tendons injuries: they are caused by the use of inappropriate material or footwear or because of irregular terrain or too hard to practice exercise (tendonitis) or as a result of a contusion (tendosynovitis).

-Ligament injuries: a bad movement or even a blow can cause a sprain, a strain or a rupture of the ligaments of the ankle, knee, and so on. There are different degrees that mark the severity of the injury.

-Lessions of bones: a strong trauma can cause a fracture of bone of greater or lesser degree (fissures) whose period of healing is usually more extensive than the rest of injuries.

In addition to fractures, other bone problems may occur, such as uneven growth, bone wear or periostitis, or inflammation of the periosteum (the membrane that lines the bone).

-Joint injuries: frequent in ball sports (basketball, soccer ...), we can talk about joint injuries, dislocations ... they are usually painful and often accompanied by other problems, mainly spills.

BODY EXPRESSION GAMES

In our last P.E lessons we have started a new dynamic of exercises that are very different from the common ones, like playing bastketball, football, or whatever. The function of this kind of games is the expression of the body, also lose your embarrassment and learn about how to spend time with all our classmates.

     - THE ENERGY BALL: everyone makes a circle and one person starts throwing an imaginary ball made of energy. You have to imagine it and you can make it smaller or bigger, as you wish, and also you can throw it the way you want.

     - BANG-BANG: the teacher points to anyone and this student has to bend down and the people on the right and left have to shoot each other. If the person in the middle doesn't bend down at time or the other two don't shoot, they die.

     - ZIP, ZAP, ZOP: people make a circle and one person starts saying "Zip" and choose another person to say the next word "Zap" and when someone fails, lose the game and the finalists remains.

     - TO GREET: you have to dance according to the music and when the teacher stops it, he/she will say a kind of greetment, like "you see an old friend", or "you meet someone" and you would shake hands with the nearest person.

     - EXPRESS AN IMAGE: the teacher will show an image and you have to express with your body that photo, but not describing it. You must express a feeling or an action that it inspires you (not only superficially)

    - THE DOLL: this game consists in acting like your partner or you are a doll and you only can move if the other person controls the threads. You can make an action or like a sculpture.

    - TOUCH THE WALLS: you have to move touching all the time the walls and then, the floor will be lava and you must run to a safe and high place.

    - MIME: you have to do action with your body at a certain number of temps from music, so your partner has to understand you without sounds. You can mime a sport, a routine (wake up,  brush your teeth, get dressed and go to school), or what you prefer.

    - HIGH, MEDIUM AND LOW LEVELS: in theatre or in dance, there are three different levels of body expression: high, medium and low. You have to dance at the rhythm of the music; when the teacher says "high level", you must dance like ballet dancer, with your arms high, when he says "medium level" you should keep dancing normally; and when he/she says "low level", you must bend down and try to walk in that position.

[BADMINTON]

Welcome again! After (short) Christmas Holidays, we must go back to our diary work here.
Today it's time to talk about a sport that I love: badminton. In class we have begun working with the racquet and the shuttlecock (called "volante" in Spanish).

    We did some movements like:

-"To serve", which is the first movement of badminton and it consist in throwing the shuttlecock from under your hips to start the game.

-"To drop": you have to leave the shuttlecock fall into the floor next to the net, so your oponent can't hit it.

-"To lob/clear": you hit the shuttlecock high and far from the net, so the other player can't hit it.

-"Smash":you have to throw the shuttlecock down. It has to pass just over the net and go down, so your oponent will have no time to hit it.

You can play in doubles (two vs two) or one vs one, as you wish.

VOCABULARY
-Racket = raqueta
-Shuttlecock = volante
-Net = red
-Court = pista
-Lines = líneas
